It’s that time of the year. Autumn leaves start falling down(at least in this part of the world) and lights are dimming —Halloween is coming! Why should companies care? Isn’t time money? And business should be serious? Office events such as a Halloween costume day actually have more positives than many think. It’s more than just having fun. At HUONE, it is all about creating a more enjoyable meeting experience, helping our guests have the right kind of start to their meeting. And if we have some fun at the same time, we are all in!
Bring the fun into the office!
It’s been studied that a fun workplace event helps to boost team morale and motivation. Which means bringing some fun in the office does not hurt your team’s productivity, it actually is a way to increase employee engagement! What a great news! Harvard Business Review touches on the benefits of laughing in the office:
“Laughter relieves stress and boredom, boosts engagement and well-being and spurs not only creativity and collaboration but also analytic precision and productivity.”
When it comes to an office event, regardless of its kind or size(it can be an organised team building activity, or casual after-work chill Wednesdays in the office), if you see your team is having a laugh together, the goal is achieved.
When it comes to Halloween, you don’t have to spend a fortune and go crazy with decorations, parties, pumpkin carving contests, costumes and so on. How about just keeping it simple? Wear something special, encourage your teammates to bring out their quirky side. However, always remember to listen to your team or your employees, and whatever you do, we recommend to leave the participation ‘voluntary’ for your office events Be sensitive and respect personal preferences. Everyone should feel comfortable participating or not participating without any pressure.

The right ‘atmosphere’ is one of the crucial factors for a successful meeting or an event, and the first impression counts. How would you feel to be greeted by unicorns or a ninja? Imagine the atmosphere of your group starting a full-day strategy meeting, if every single person were to be greeted the same way?
Customer experience is always an emotional one, and ‘caring’ plays a crucial part in creating a better customer experience. We, HUONE, have learned, from our experience of hosting thousands of guests, that it is often small things that make an impact. Some examples would be: putting out lemon and ginger slices ready for the guests’ warm tea during the cold autumn days, having umbrellas ready for customers to borrow on a rainy day, setting a room with extra extension cords for the training that you know will require everyone to use a laptop, and so on. Dressing up for this one day and putting the guests in the right mood to start their day? It is just one of them.

Happy employees, happy customers
Organising regular company events, get-togethers, dinners etc. are opportunities for everyone to get to know each other on a more personal level, talk about something different outside of work, spend time together in a non-stressful environment. It is a great way to improve employee engagement, hence, a meaningful investment for a company.
Customers often say they feel at home at HUONE (even though it might be a new, unique, and unfamiliar place for many) because you can see that the staff genuinely enjoying each other’s company. It helps us to approach and connect with our customers at the same level, as we say it is always human-to-human. This genuine ‘care’ for our customers applies the same, holistically, when we designed touchpoints of HUONE meeting experience.
